Meet the Artist.

In Psalm 33:6 the psalmist says “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.”  All that you see, hear, touch and feel has been created.  It’s not an accident, it displays design.  Like all good works of art, the artist reveals themselves in their art.

The cosmos, all creation and life, reveal design, intelligence, order and the power of a great God.  A beautiful sunset, comes from God.  The mountains and the wilderness, right down to the smallest of animals reveals his intelligence.  We learn from what we see and have around us.  From our limited knowledge of medicine and science, engineering and technology, we understand man is harvesting from intelligence, from a creator.

Who is the Artist?

In the gospel of John, we gain an amazing insight to the creator, and are introduced to Him by name.

John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.”

The scripture teaches us that God and “the Word” existed in the beginning together.  It teaches that this “Word” is responsible for all things coming into being!  And without the “Word” nothing has been created!

John goes on further to reveal in John 1:14-15, “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’”

The Word became human, took the form of man, and came and lived among us.  This is the same “Word” in John 1:1-3.  The John referred to is John the Baptist, who came as a forerunner of the saviour, our saviour and yours, Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the Word.  Jesus Christ is the creator of

all that is and has ever been.

Mankind is a special creation

Psalm 139:13-14 tells us “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.  I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.”

God also reveals to us in the book of Genesis 1:26, that we are made in the likeness of God.

We are wonderfully made, each and every one of us.  Especially you the reader!  You may not feel that, you may not appreciate that, but your of great value to God.  He has plans for you, Jer 29:11 tells us “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” Sin destroys our relationship with God, and merits punishment.  God is clear, the sinner will not go unpunished.  We need a saviour, and Jesus is our saviour.  Your life is precious to the Father who says 1 Tim 2:3-6 “This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all”.  A ransom for you, have you ever thought about it?  And the Ransom for you was the Son of God!

The rainbow

In the book of Genesis chapter 9, we are introduced to the rainbow. This followed the flood which destroyed the Earth because the thoughts of man’s heart was evil continually (Gen 6:5).  Noah and his family by Faith, survived in the Ark, and God spoke with them after the flood waters had subsided.  In verses 12 and 13 of chapter 9, it records for us: “God said, “This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations; I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.”

Jesus cares for His creation

Sin is the most destructive force known to man.  It destroys marriages, children, communities, countries, and ultimately the soul of the individual.  There is no escaping its impact and its not just in the hear and now, but sin separates us from God, (Isaiah 59:2) and that for eternity.  Something had to be done.  Jesus suffered the shame of the cross, so He could lay down His life as a sacrifice in the place of the sinner.   Having laid down His life, and been raised from the dead, Jesus instructed his followers in Mark 16:15-16 as follows: “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.”

In the book of acts, on Pentecost, the good news was preached.  Here is the account of Acts for us, in a snap shot.

  • Lets see what’s said. Acts 2:21. “And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

  • You all killed Jesus Acts 2:36. “Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified.”

  • What do we do about that? Acts 2:37. “Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?””

  •  Look at the next verse for the answer Acts 2:38. “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins;”

  •  The offer for salvation is good for you and everybody who follows Acts 2:39.

  •  So save yourselves “Be saved from this perverse generation” Acts 2:40.

  •  Then they that gladly received His Word accepted those terms and conditions and did so by being baptized Acts 2:41. “So then, those who had received his word were baptized”

And who does the adding at that point?  If you drop down to verse 47 you'll see that it is Jesus who does the adding Acts 2:47 “And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

That's the only way to avail of the sacrifice Jesus has made to deal with your sin.

Just as Jesus is the creator of the heavens and the earth, Jesus is also the creator of a way of escape from the punishment that sin so rightly deserves.

Do not delay, Jesus is ready to be your personal saviour.  All that’s left is to acknowledge our sin and allow Jesus to save us by acting in faith and repenting and being baptised.   Jesus has made it possible for us to be with Him in heaven, and in John 14:2 Jesus says, “I go to prepare a place for you”.  Jesus makes everything possible for us, and He is worthy of praise and adoration.  Take the next step in knowing Jesus, contact us
