The facts about PRAYER everyone needs to know

Prayer is communication with God

God has revealed the basis on which we can pray to him.

  • God wants all men to pray to Him. Psalm 65:2; 1 Kings 8:41-43; Isaiah 55:6.

  • God wants us to pour out our souls to Him. 1 Sam 1:15.

  • We must call on God to save our souls Isaiah 45:22

When we pray to God, we must be humble and not self-righteous.

In Luke 18:9-14, we read about the tax collector who standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The attitude we have when we approach God in prayer is very important.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

God hears the prayer of the righteous. We are told in John 9:31, “Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.”

There are people whose prayer God will not hear. Isaiah 59:2 says, “But you iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” To allow anything to separate us from the fellowship of God, so that He will not hear our prayers, is a very serious matter.

You need to make certain that you are in fellowship with God.  It’s to serious to neglect.  If you have no relationship now, you will have no relationship with Him in the after life!

Sin stands in the way of Prayer

”And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words”  Matt 6:7
